The Yayasan Penyu Indonesia (YPI) is the non-profit organization founded in Indonesia in July, 2018, as one of the seven Turtle Foundation (TF) branches (UK, US, Switzerland, Cape Verde, Germany, and Liechtenstein). The objective of YPI is the protection of sea turtles while concentrating on practical, tangible, and sustainable aspects of conservation.

Our vision is a future where sea turtles and their habitats are sustainably protected, healthy and safe from extinction and destruction.

Our mission is to participate in the protection of sea turtles in our own project areas by working with the local population to create a future where both humans and sea turtles have a secure livelihood.

Our goal is that by working closely and involving the role of the community directly in this project, the protection of sea turtles can be done sustainable. The extinction of sea turtles that caused by inappropriate actions can be stoped and make the population increase again in the long term. Sea turtle fulfill important ecological functions in our oceans. They maintain seagrass meadows, which serve as a feeding ground for numerous fish species, store vast amounts of carbon dioxide and as predators of jellyfish, they prevent jellyfish plagues.
